I would encourage you to watch this video. It was produced by the Tides Foundation. It is condemning capitalism and consumerism. Most importantly, it’s being presented to young children in our government controlled schools. Yeah, propaganda style. Here’s the entire video (if you have 20 minutes, please watch it).

Here’s one response that’s worth watching, if you need help finding all the flaws.

We promised that we would post their names. I’m sorry I didn’t get these up here sooner. Vacations and other events have slowed us down a bit. So to celebrate Independence Day, please call these Representatives, if they are yours. Let them know that they will pay for what they’ve done. Tell them we’re coming for them. Tell them they work for us and since they’ve stopped working, they will be losing their jobs very soon. This bill passed by 7 votes. Note how many names are listed below. This bill could have died on the house floor.

Before we get started, if you are thinking, “what’s so bad about this bill?” I offer you this link. The guys at the National Review can explain it much better than I ever could.

In May, four of the representatives listed here signed this statement.

We don’t believe that the word “Republican” means someone is good as these eight obviously prove. But we do believe that Republicans are supposed to represent conservative values. This bill, commonly referred to as cap and trade, is a giant tax on Americans. During an economic crisis, only the most liberal people should support anything that will cause a larger financial burden on the people. We hope to find and discuss any other remarks these representatives have on this.

The “Republican” Congressional Representatives who voted for the American Clean Energy and Security Act:
Mary Bono Mack – (CA) Issued a statement that she was “concerned that bringing the bill to the floor next week is too premature to properly evaluate Members’ concerns and implement needed improvements.” So she thought the bill was brought to vote too soon, yet still voted yes. Good job standing up for what you believe in.

Rethink Conservatism

Whether you listen to the mainstream media, hollywood, liberal politicians, your college professor, or in all likelihood, many of your friends, you have certain stereotypes that you are pre-disposed to when you hear “Republican”, “conservative”, “religious right”, and so on and so forth. This is not to say that we here at Freedom and Liberty claim these labels. However, I can most certainly assure you, that when the aforementioned groups of people catch wind of what we are doing, we will no doubt be thrown into these categories of ideology. Well I am here to beat them to the punch. In no way can I sum up our beliefs and values in one post, but I would like to take this chance to debunk some myths that are commonly attributed conservative groups of people, and maybe even you yourself.

Here at Freedom and Liberty, we proudly believe in many things. Not the least of which is, a smaller, less intrusive government. We believe this makes for a stronger, more independent, prosperous nation. We believe in fiscal responsibility. Borrowing and spending money that you do not have helps no one, including our government. Most importantly, we believe that America is, at it’s core, a great nation, founded by some of the bravest, most wise men the earth has ever seen. Finally, we believe that everyone has the right to LIFE, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of (but not the guarantee of) HAPPINESS. These are the things that as conservatives, you would more than likely expect us to believe. Now, for debunking a few myths.

Many would have you believe that as conservatives, we toss aside any concern for our environment, and favor the raping and pillaging of our planet for all it’s resources for our immediate gain, without the slightest concern for future generations. This could not be further from the truth. We believe that the earth was a gift given to us by our Creator. I prefer to look at it this way… Say you had a built a house, from foundation to shingles, studs to drywall. After you built this house, putting all of your heart and soul into it, you hand the keys to your most beloved friend, you built this house with them in mind. Now as soon as you hand over the keys, the floors are never vacuumed again, the porch never swept, and the trash never taken out. This would, no doubt, upset you. We view the earth as a house, built with us in my mind by our Creator. We are to take care of this house, as we would want that friend to take care of what we built for them. This is because we believe how you treat the creation is a reflection of how you truly feel about the Creator. That being said, we take no part in and hold no belief in propaganda such as “climate change, global warming/cooling” and all of the other baseless claims that are made by politicians in order to achieve more control over people. When issues are supported by fact, they should be carefully considered. When they are obviously propaganda used to impose regulation and place blame on entire political parties, we will call them what they are. Patently false.

Another myth that is commonly attributed to us conservatives is that we are racist, sexist, homophobic, bigots. Again, here at Freedom and Liberty, this could not be further from the truth. We believe that ALL men are created equal. No color, gender, or sexual orientation makes anyone less deserving of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The problem is, that more and more often these days, if you are a minority it is believed by some that this entitles you to MORE rights than the majority. One example of where we start to have problems is when we create laws saying that you have to have a certain “quota” of black, or female employees in ratio to your white, or male employees. This in my opinion, creates an atmosphere of animosity among coworkers who would otherwise have absolutely no problem working with a black, Hispanic, or Asian coworker. However, if “Billy Bob” has a more qualified (on paper) white male friend who applies for a job, and that less qualified (on paper) black, Hispanic, or Asian coworker was given the position in order to meet a ridiculous “quota”, that creates an atmosphere of animosity that would not have previously been there. If there is a boss who is not hiring people based on race, or gender that boss should be dealt with accordingly and should not oversee hiring and firing. There, problem solved, no government intervention needed, no silly new laws needed. It helps no one to force bosses to hire minorities, over also well deserving majorities. It creates an artificial feeling of equality, rather than getting rid of and punishing those bosses who truly look unfavorably upon those who are minorities.

Now to address the final myth. The myth here is that being conservative is somehow “uncool”, “old-fashioned”, and only for old wrinkly white guys. That is garbage. As conservatives, we believe the more freedom, the better. The more liberty, the better. Give people the right to live their own lives as they see fit, without intruding on others’ rights. The government was created BY the people, not the other way around. The government is given their power, BY the people, they report to US, we do not report to them. Who can disagree with that? At Freedom and Liberty, we are far from being old wrinkly white guys. We are young, we are conservative, and we think that the government needs to back the hell off and let the people live their lives as they see fit.
