I submit this video for the Franken Amendment discussion:

I too can’t find much explanation from those who voted for it. You better believe they will have to answer for it in their next campaigns though. It’s just too easy of a target for their opponents.

How can you say Obama is a disaster? I can see how it can be said he hasn’t done anything, but he hasn’t ruined anything that wasn’t already screwed up. Your statements are skewed and don’t make any sense.

@Bill Daly Obama is a disaster because he and his administration have helped throw us deeper into a national deficit, with little to no benefit. In addition, he has tangibly made our nation less safe by scrapping plans for a missile defense system and not acting swiftly on the blatant defiance of Iran.

    Bill,

Since January 2009 Obama has driven our national debt 3 times higher than any previous 1 year period. Given the previous state of our national debt, driving that much higher in such a short period of time, how can that not be considered disastrous? For our economy, our children, our standing in the world? You’re just wrong. Period.

    Sam,

I am going to have to ask you to retract your comment as it is very offensive and border-line racist.

I think what gets me the most about conseratives and Obama-haters (note that I did differentiate between the two) is how vitriolic some of their statements are. I can’t see how Obama has done a worse job than George W., yet the attacks on his policies have been launched far more angrily and more often.

To say that one man – or indeed, one political party – has ruined the country is simply infantile. America has gotten to the state it’s in through a long string of poor decisions made by people from every walk of life. Who ruined America? Americans. We are all to blame because we are a bunch of puling, whining, selfish, materialistic, instant-gratification-driven ingrates who would rather complain about our own needs not being met than get up off our sofas and do something about it.

I love that people talk about Obama’s inexperience as president…it reminds me of all the other presidents who were elected for the first time and had loads of presidential experience.I don’t know that he is all that great a president, but let’s give the man a chance to do something and earn his Nobel Prize (for which he didn’t ask and can’t be blamed).

@Bill what gets me the most about Obama-lovers is how their only defense is to project focus onto Bush.

Bill, both of my arguments were things that happened AFTER Obama was elected and had NOTHING to do with George W.

I also think it is completely ridiculous to claim that Americans ruined America. You just can’t over-generalize such a topic like that.

  8. Sam permalink

Sounds like you really hate Americans Bill. If that is your real name! Or should I say, OSAMA BIN LADEN. I knew I’d find you.

  9. James permalink

No, Sam…. you’re just blinded by your racist world-view.

Bill, just as one example, I can honestly say that I think Obama has been a disaster in international relations. Remember his “gift” to Prime Minister Gordon Brown of the UK: DVDs that didn’t even work in the UK? And he returned the Churchill bust? The fact that Norwegian Socialists preemptively approve of his presidency doesn’t negate the fact that he is the laughing stock of 10 Downing Street. Scrapping the missile shield, as Wes mentioned, enraged our allies in Eastern Europe. There have been many other examples that can certainly be considered ‘disasters’ in international relations and in many other areas of his presidency.

I don’t think anybody is criticizing Obama for his lack of experience as president, rather, his lack of experience, period. He had exactly zero executive experience and I believe something like a year and a half national political experience going into the election. I’ve never heard anyone criticize him for his lack of experience as a president. That’s a bit ridiculous.

Keith and Wes really summed up what I would say. I’d add only that here at Freedom and Liberty, we certainly don’t blame “one man – or indeed, one political party”. We feel there is deep corruption on both sides. Our desire is to see a return to the basis on which our country was founded. We will stand up for what we believe.

Bill, you say our statements are “skewed and don’t make any sense.” What are we saying that is so vitriolic? None of your comments are even related to the show. Did you listen or are you just assuming that we are like every other “conservative and Obama-hater”? We would love to have an actual discussion related to the show. If you just want to bash conservatives, well, I’m not here to defend conservatives.
